Independent Inquiry (IICSA)

Information about the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse

The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse was set up in March 2015 and is now underway. This Inquiry will investigate whether public bodies and other institutions in England and Wales have taken seriously their responsibility to protect children from sexual abuse, and make meaningful recommendations for change in the future.

On 27th November the public hearings will commence on Child Sex Abuse in the Roman Catholic Church. The first case study will examine the English Benedictine Congregation (EBC).

The Abbot President of the EBC has issued a statement about the Congregation’s participation in the Inquiry. The statement can be read here
